MaPrimeRenov' 2026 : eligibility and amounts
MaPrimeRénov' is the French state's main subsidy for energy renovation. In 2026, the per-action path (parcours par geste) is open to the Blue, Yellow, and Purple income categories; higher-income households (Pink) qualify only for the supported path (parcours accompagné). Amounts range from a few hundred euros to €5,000 per action (with a combined cap of €20,000 per dwelling over five years), and up to about €32,000 for a whole-home renovation (rénovation d'ampleur). The application must be submitted before the work begins, at maprimerenov.gouv.fr. An RGE-certified tradesperson is mandatory (source: France's national housing agency, ANAH, 2026 rates).

What changed in 2026
Higher-income households (Pink) are no longer eligible for the per-action path (par geste) in 2026. They now go through the supported path (parcours accompagné).
The supported path (parcours accompagné) has been strengthened. For a gain of two DPE energy-rating classes or more, subsidies cover up to 80% for the lowest-income households.
The prior energy audit now applies to more projects. The audit is part-funded by MaPrimeRénov' (up to €500).

How to apply?
The application must be submitted before the work begins, without exception.
Create your account at maprimerenov.gouv.fr.
Have an energy audit done if required.
Get quotes from RGE-certified tradespeople.
Submit your file online.
Wait for approval before starting.
After the work, send the invoices to receive payment.
Mistakes that lose you the subsidy
1. Starting the work before approval. The number-one cause of rejection.
2. Choosing a non-RGE tradesperson. Check on france-renov.gouv.fr before signing the quote.
3. Not combining the available help. MaPrimeRénov' can be combined with CEE, the éco-PTZ, and local grants.
4. Underestimating the energy gain. The supported path (accompagné) is more advantageous if you reach a gain of two DPE classes.
The architect's advice
When an architect runs an energy-renovation project, they organise the subsidy application before the work starts. It is part of their design assignment (article 2.2 of the Ordre des Architectes standard contracts). Without an architect, do the same: submit your MaPrimeRénov' application before signing the quote, not after. It is the difference between €20,000 of help and nothing.
On Mastros, your property profile keeps your documents, quotes, and subsidy applications in one place.
